Family pictures can be stressful – but they don’t have to be, and this is one of the reasons Amy first shared that she loved my work. It’s real. It’s kids being kids. Laughter, a scraped knee or two, tears, then giggles, running off to play and starting all over again.
We have been trying to coordinate schedules (and weather) for this Boulder Family session for a while now, and the weather kinda decided to cooperate for us a few weeks ago long enough to play at Foothills Community Park. Amy + Wade had their wedding reception here years ago, and it is so fun to see their children playing in a place with such meaning for them as a couple.
One of my favorite things about family pictures, and getting to document the lives of the same families year after year is seeing how they grow and change – (read more about why you should have a yearly photo session here!). I love watching kids’ personalities develop, observing their expressions, watching their passions form. And, I love remembering the silly things they did as littles – i.e. Elias can’t really talk to me but gets this sweet smile when he looks at me, and Zeke…well, Zeke is just a goofball. For all the things I see, I love hearing a mom describe her children; read on for a bit from Amy.

“Eli is our eclectic farmer. Nothing brings him joy quite like tending to his backyard chickens or mucking out a dirty coop. Eli embodies a middle child and grows sweeter each day.”
“Zeke has the strongest of personalities. His strength comes straight from his smile. This little ham can get the most serious of gawkers grinning. Zeke loves to read, run and never misses an airplane in the sky. Zeke has a deep love for his family and he knows right where his brother’s buttons are.”
“Lily is a kind-hearted kindergartner taking life one small adventure at a time. Lily is a dancer and an avid American Ninja Warrior fan. She loves time with her friends and is the best big sister our family could ask for.”
“I loved that my kids had fun. They were so comfortable, confident and in there element at the park. The timing was just right, and Laura was super easy with which to work!”
