This question isn’t super common, but comes up enough I think it warrants a little explanation about what it’s like to work with me. So, from start to finish, here’s my process, and what you can expect when you hire Laura Glen Photography.
By the time you’ve landed on my website, a friend sent you my way, you’ve followed me for a bit, or Googled your way to my business. Regardless of how you reached my little corner of the web, I am thrilled that you’re exploring my site and checking out my work.
When my nephew wants to play explorers, he calls out in his sweet, little voice, “Treasure! Where are yooooou?!” I feel like that’s kinda what you’re doing here – exploring my site, finding those nuggets that tug on your heart strings. To hasten your search, I recommend taking a gander through the Galleries, checking out the Investment Pages (Weddings + Elopements, Families, Newborns), then hitting up the Inquiry page to get this party started!
I don’t want you to have to hunt too hard, and I want to make my process as simple as possible for you. So while exploring the Investment Page, you have the option of downloading the appropriate investment guide for your session. (Don’t see something applicable to you? Get in touch through this form, and let me know!) You can also reserve the date of your session HERE!
Step 01. Let’s Make This Official
When you’re ready to book, you can fill out this form, shoot me an email, or give me a call. (Further booking details are available in my investment guides.) I really love getting to talk to you on the phone, in person, or via FaceTime before booking to hear more about you, what makes you tick, why you’re looking for a photographer, and what you’re looking for in photography, and review my collections, products and packages with you. I want to ensure we’re the best fit possible.
At this point in the process, we’ll take care of the contract and other items needed to book, and your date will be all yours! You will then receive a questionnaire to help me better get to know you and yours, as well as my clothing guide to help you dress for session success.
Step 02. Your Session
This description is geared more toward family sessions, but it works well for couples, too! Here’s how a typical, one-hour session goes:
I’ll arrive a bit early to take a look around your home or the location, so I can get a good idea of the area. When we start your session, the first 15-minutes will be dedicated to more formal portraits. As I am a documentary, lifestyle photographer, these portraits will be very relaxed.
Once those 15-minutes have passed, it’s time to play! The remaining 45-minutes will be devoted to you and your family interacting through an activity selected by you – volleyball, rollerblading, card games, cooking dinner, baking cookies, flying kites – the possibilities are endless. (Couples this will work for you, too! Let me know if you need ideas!)
This time is all about you, all about your family, so I won’t be doing a whole lot of directing. Instead, I’ll spend the time looking for the moments that make your family, your family.
Step 03. After Your Session
Once we’ve wrapped up the fun of your session, I’ll scurry home to cull, edit, and give you the best of the best of your images. During slower times of the year (i.e. Winter), you’ll receive your gallery in 3-5 weeks. During busier seasons (i.e. not Winter), gallery delivery may take 5-6 weeks. Once you’ve received your gallery, you’ll be able to select images for prints and products from the collections you reviewed.
Step 04. Prints + Product Collections
As I mentioned in Step 03 of this process, you’ll be able to select your prints and products collection and/or a la carté products once you’ve received your gallery. In order to ensure you are pleased with your selections, I will help you choose images and products, and even give suggestions on where and how to display them in your home.
Photo collections take about 3-4 weeks to be produced by my professional lab, and you will be notified when they are ready for pickup! (If you prefer, I can also ship them to your door.)
Step 05. ENJOY!
Hang those frames, put that album on the coffee table, and enjoy the sweet, simple moments of your family.
